Schooling encompases a range of facets, re-education of behavioural problems like rearing, bucking, resistance. Barrier training (and re-training) for race-horses. General handling on the ground. float and farrier schooling. Competition training and cross country schooling.
Schooling is not about forcing the horse into submission but teaching them through aids (cues from the rider/handler) to go by themselves, to be relaxed, to be confident and to understand what is being asked of them. We use no tricks or artificial aids just a consistent and step-by-step program. We train our horses to be confident and secure, and as a result they are happy to do what is asked of them.
Too often we encounter horses that are frightened, confused and insecure, and because of the way they react are regarded as bad or evil. We work with every horse, find out the problems and devise non-violent and long-term solutions.
Horses develop behavioural problems for a variety of reasons. Each horse is born with its own set of genetic tendencies, some are more susceptable to developing certain issues. Right from birth his external environment influences how he sees the world. Negative experiences and poor handling at a young age will affect how the horse reacts to stimuli.
Each horse is different and they vary in their response to pressure, this is generally a result of the sensitivity of the individual.
